I finally solved my own problem with IE5. You see, when I installed Office 2000, Internet Explorer 5.1 was installed as well. I've had issues with IE5.1 resulting in my having had to return to version 5.0. Well, after discovering the "image error" problem, I downloaded and installed 5.5 -- thinking that whatever code-demons were partying in my system would be beaten into submission by the newer version.

Of course, it couldn't possibly be that simple. And it wasn't.

So, in desperation, I decided to uninstall 5.5 since it didn't do a damn thing to stop the image error nastiness. And of course I got a warning pop-up during the uninstall process stating that MS Office 2000 might not work without this latest version of IE. Ehhhh. But I kept my resolve and pressed the "okay" button which would banish the offending code from my 'puter. I then reinstalled version 5.0.

And it worked. So far. I can now preview my pages correctly in IE5. So far. Easy-sqeezy. So far.
